... and A Boy is good but keeps getting bumped by easier reads. It's not that it's hard, but it's not as relaxing as the Diary of a Provincial Lady omnibus that I've just finished. I'm not reading it fast enough to get into it either - might try harder this weekend because it's due back soon ...
I've also ordered many times from them on Ebay and the books are always in great condition. As a matter of fact Diary of a Provincial Lady by E. M. Delafield arrived yesterday. I'm glad I know about the website now. Thanks!
... if I just read and don't contribute much! I'm reading a lot of Captain Underpants, Berenstain Bears, and the 2nd volume of Diary of a Provincial Lady , exactly what I feel like.
Ooooh jnwelch, my copy of The Provincial Lady doesn't include The Provincial Lady in Russia! I've never heard of that one, so cool, I've have to look for it. My copy has: Diary of a Provincial Lady, The Provincial Lady Goes Further, The Provincial Lady in America and The Provincial Lady ...
Loved The Diary of a Provincial Lady . I worked one summer many years ago at its U.S. publisher, Academy Chicago. The publisher's owners, Anita and Jordan Miller, are wonderful people who, among other things, find gems like this to re-publish.
I also liked a second one, The Provincial Lady ...
Another one that's not letters but diary entries is The Provincial Lady by E. M. Delafield. Very funny, my copy has four stories in it, but I believe the first one is the popular, most common one The Diary of a Provincial Lady. I really do have to re-read it again soon.
I just finished the first book of A Diary of a Provincial Lady by E M Delafield and really enjoyed it - I'm saving the other 2 in the volume up! Thank Heaven Fasting looks great.
... if you want it badly enough whatever you pay is a bargain. Right now I am working on getting all of E.M. Delafield's Provincial Lady books and I think I have just about made it.
big hug,

Finished The diary of a Provincial Lady and really, really enjoyed it. It reminded me a lot of Mrs Miniver. I'm saving the other 3 books in the omnibus for a rainy day.

I'm reading The Diary of a Provincial Lady by E. M. Delafield and I'm really enjoying it - very easy to read in small doses, and funny.
I've had Too Much Tuscan Sun with Dario Castagno and have moved back to somewhere in England with The Diary of a Provincial Lady by E. M. Delafield. Both very easy reads - just what I feel like right now!

The Diary of a Provincial Lady is my book for dipping into at any time. From callmejacx's library I've chosen Diary of a Provincial Lady by E.M. Delafield. I have a copy but have never gotten to it.
Finished Thank Heaven Fasting this afternoon. It's the best E. M. Delafield novel I've read so far. Now it's back to the Virago box to see what, besides The Constant Sinner, I might like to read next.
... some unread Viragos with me. I've chosen Chatterton Square and The Reef and I never go away without E. M. Delafield's The Diary of a Provincial Lady . I've also got my ipod shuffle loaded with Cranford, read by Prunella Scales, two Harry Potters - the Stephen Fry versions - and a volume of ...
I fear I am the Provincial Lady though without the servants...
I predictably volunteer to offer information about Kate O'Brien, who I was surprised to learn recently was connected with E M Delafield , and Molly Keane, though the only connections I can think of to her off the top of my head are non-Virago and theatrical -- Coward and Gielgud. But maybe I ...
I think the first Virago I owned was The Diary of a Provincial Lady and I have re-read it so many times that I had to buy a second copy. I'd already bought the four separates (not Virago) but I had to have a Virago copy of the omnibus. Having read through this thread I've been reminded of many ...
Well, it's not a factual book and it is a little tongue-in-cheek, but you might find a lot of useful period detail in Diary of a Provincial Lady by E. M. Delafield - it (and its sequels) is/are very enjoyable!

... I thought I'd exhausted their stock of VMCs, but found Thank Heaven Fasting which I'd never come across before. I loved The Diary of a Provincial Lady so am looking forward to this, although it has gone to the bottom of an extremely large TBR pile.
I devoured Our Spoons Came From Woolworths last night and absolutely loved it. The dry, deadpan humour reminded me of The Diary of a Provincial Lady , but it's all a bit more surreal and really harrowing in places. Just wonderful.
I finished Diary of a Provincial Lady last week. Liked it, smiled all the way through, but was not chomping at the bit to get back to it.
