Broke and on the run, Alex Jamison has nothing to lose. Her brother has run off in search of a mythical diamond, leaving her behind to pick up the pieces of their broken lives. Alex not only has to deal with the loss of her family home and her inheritance, but with the dangerous loan shark her brother left behind. Knowing she is out of options, Alex begins a desperate journey up the rivers of the Borneo rainforest in search of her wayward brother. The last thing she needs is another man in her life, especially a gorgeous riverboat captain, who makes her yearn for what she knows she can't have. Captain Ben Carter has a reputation for taking on lost causes and strays. When Alex is found hiding aboard his boat, Ben can't turn her away. He tries to treat her as he would any other member of his crew, but as he spends time with Alex, he finds it difficult to keep away. The knowledge that Alex will have to leave the riverboat to head into the rainforest alone is frightening, but she knows if she were to stay, she would put Ben and his crew in danger. However, Ben refuses to let her journey alone. What happens next in the rainforest leaves many lives in the balance. About the Author: Sarah Snyder is the assistant director of a daycare center in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. "I wanted to share a story of overcoming obstacles, both physically and within ourselves, and becoming a better person because of those challenges."
