When Asher Jackson, the playboy co-owner of the Oceanix Hotel Chain, meets Dana Anders, manager of the gourmet coffee shop within the Oceanix Resort, he longs to strike up a good rapport with her. But to his surprise, his typical charm immediately fails him and he can't help but provoke her with sarcastic remarks at every turn. Even though Dana can give as good as she gets, she's confused by Asher's hostility toward her-especially when she harbors a secret attraction toward him. When she finds herself with unexpected bills to pay, Dana strikes up a deal. For a reasonable fee, the financially strapped Dana will pose as Asher's girlfriend to drive away bitter women who are making his life miserable. Asher hasn't engaged in a serious relationship since his heart was broken five years previously, so he thinks playing husband to a fake wife won't be a problem. But as the relationship continues he's no longer quite so certain. And as the line between false animosity and real attraction becomes blurred, Dana begins to realize that the one thing she wants is what she's pretending to already have.… (more)

This was a fun hate-to-love romance with enjoyable moments. I liked the character of Dana who was seemingly strong and smart and witty but could still get affected by the behavior of Asher. I started liking Asher after they start their "relationship" arrangement but I still think he treated Dana pretty awfully before that. However, the natural progression of their relationship and falling in love was written very well and the romance did get TOO HOT to handle !!!!! I also liked the friendship between Dana and Zoe because they are very supportive of each other and completely understand without being judgy. This was a very good change because its difficult to find strong female friendships in fiction generally. Overall, I had fun reading this book and would recommend to anyone who wants to read a hot breezy love story.

I would like to thank Penguin Random House for providing me an ARC of this book through the First to Read Program. ( )

I usually like hate-to-love romances, but something about this one did not sit well with me. I found both of the main characters to be pretty unlikable, and by the end of the book they didn't redeem themselves very much, in my opinion. Ash's behavior was especially abhorrent, and I never really got past how nasty he was to Dana from the get-go. Also, most of the characters seemed to talk about sex a lot, and while that normally wouldn't bother me, for some reason it felt excessive at some points in this story. That being said, I didn't all-out hate this book and I'm sure it will be right up some readers' alleys. I liked some of the supporting characters much more than Ash and Dana. They were well-written and intriguing, and I would be interested in reading their stories from this series of interconnected standalones. If you enjoy hate-to-love romance and don't mind when it's heavy on the hate I would give this book a try. Thanks to First to Read for the advance copy. ( )

This novel is the second in the Breakfast in Bed series but I don't believe that it's necessary to read the first. I'm a frequent romance novel reader and enjoy a fun romp. But this novel didn't quite deliver. The male protagonist Asher was a tough character to connect with and lacks any depth. Even some of the scenes were clumsy--- Asher is talking with his maid at home and then is suddenly in his work office. There was no transition depicted. The humor was supposed to be from the verbal jabs Dana and Asher throw at each other but they come off as deeply insulting. Overall, Room for Two has all the trappings of a romance with none of the charm.

I received an Advanced Readers Copy e-book of this title in exchange for an honest review. ( )
