Man, I hate to dnf Pamela Clare. I've read so many of her books and loved them but I just can't get into this series. I read the first one and tried 2 others. I'm not going to give it a rating because I don't want to pull this book's star rating down just because it wasn't for me. I got about halfway through. It's not poorly written. It's just too saccharine sweet for me. This one, like the others of this series, suffers from too many nice characters. Everyone is just so upstanding and heroic and perfect. Main characters and secondary characters alike. I like my characters to have character flaws. I want someone to have to change and grow over the course of the book. I like my romances to have a believable conflict between the hero and the heroine. These books seem full of couples who like each other from the get go and treat each other with caring and dignity and respect. Great in real life but, for me at least, pretty darn bland in a romance.

I guess I'll just keep waiting for Joseph's story in the MacKinnon's Rangers series. I'm even up for one where Wentworth is the hero. Now there's a guy who needs some redeeming and character growth.

I always enjoy her books, this was the fourth book in the Scarlett Springs series, and we finally got our hottie Chaska. Chaska is out with his sister when his wolf senses that something is wrong, and takes off, and they find a young an unconscious woman, Naomi. Poor Naomi, was assaulted by two escaped convicts, and she was smart and resourceful and was able to get away from them before they were able to do worse thing to her, but they did still shoot her. Chaska immediately contacts team, and they get her out, and if any of you have previously read about the town of Scarlett Springs, you know how loving they are, and how they pull together. We read about the attraction of Chaska and Naomi, and was happy to read that he finally has his love story, and she was worth it, and when you read what that poor girl went thru, it was sad, but she did get her HEA, and I can't to see who is next. Will it be Winona, or Britta? ( )
