Near twenty years ago Gene McCarthy wrote his first book about the going-on in Virginia's Rappahannock County. He was green back then. But a few decades of discussions at the F.T. General Store have seasoned him to life where "nothin's as simple as it seems." Finding "merkles" isn't simple. On occasion Sen. McCarthy has found these tasty mushrooms in the wild. But just as often he's begged for them. Any day now McCarthy might master his Lynch's Fool Proof Turkey Call. So far he's drawing mostly crows. These are just samples from this expanded edition of Rappahannock stories. So lean back comfy, take in the "science" of roadside trash, fitting chickens with contact lens, and the fate of those foolish enough to assault a single man's domain.… (more)
