Additionally, the story wasn't real thoroughly put together. Lots of areas taht could have been expanded upon and made into a full novel rather than a novella. ( )Plum Lovin’ is light, easy, and fun. It has no redeeming social value – my kind of book. It won’t last much longer than a TV movie. So stick a bag of popcorn in the microwave and take an evening off. My complete review is on my blog, Nate's Library, specifically at: http://nates-library.blogspot.com/200... not as much fun as the numbers series, but okay if you're jonesin' for Stephanie Plum (read by Lorelei King) This is one of the "between the numbers" Stephanie Plum books. I haven't read any of the regular series, so I can't say anything about how it fits in with those. I picked this up because someone mentioned that Evanovich was adding a fantasy element in these books, having her regular detective dealing with people and occurrences that aren't "normal". I thought that sounded like fun, sort of like the Rabbit Hole LJ posts. Well, it is fun, although not quite what I'd imagined. This particular book is a fluffy little romp that has Stephanie playing Cupid for half a dozen people who are having relationship difficulties, in between trying to figure out what happened to a valuable necklace and how to rescue a woman who's being stalked by a guy who can disappear. It's got interesting characters and a fast-moving plot that keeps the pages turning. The downside is, there's not much of that plot. This is a novella that's been padded out to novel pagecount (and novel price) by the old college-student trick of printing it in a larger font -- about 20-point, from the look of it. I opened it up and it looked like one of the Scholastic books I read in elementary school! And at my reading speed, I was done with it in less than an hour and a half. I'm not paying $7 for that again, no matter whose name is on it; I liked the book, but I'll be reading the rest of this series from the library, TYVM. And this is emphatically not the book to buy for reading on a long plane trip! Out of the frist three Between the Numbers Plum books, this is probably my least favorite. Not memorable and not fun. Plum Lucky is the best of the three. 0.141 seconds to build listing
