... I have a lot of sympathy for the concerns about declining quality in Robert Parker's Spenser series and Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series, but I still enjoy both.
I did think Rough Weather, with the Grey Man and the island kidnapping, was one of the better Spenser entries of late, ... Another Janet Evanovich, Plum Lovin' was a fun read, I am now adding the Number series as well as the other Between the number books. I guess I was in the mood for comedy, because I had started another more serious book and had trouble getting into it so I picked up this quick read. Brain candy. My term "popcorn read" is almost a bit heavy for the Stepanie Plum books. They sure do bring a smile or laugh. Nothing seems to hold my attention so I put my more serious reads aside and got a copy of Plum Lovin' by Janet Evanovich from the library. You turn the pages and look at the words. Every now and then it evokes a good giggle.

They're light (mostly) and funny and the characters are endearing, if ... ... for the year. Janet Evanovich's Lean Mean Thirteen also was on for two weeks, but it only got #46 for the year. Her Plum Lovin' was on for one week and ended up the year as #73.

So if you really like the dynamics of that love triangle, you're out of luck. But for a short "between the numbers" books, it will get you through until Lean Mean Thirteen comes out. How was Plum Lovin'? I got it, but I haven't read it yet. I've read (and enjoyed) the rest of the Stephanie Plum books, though. ...
