I finished Snow Flower and the Secret Fan over the weekend and enjoyed it. Now I am already over half way through The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian and really enjoying it. I think it was Espy's recommendation at the meet-up, but seconded by others.

Hi Amckie, glad to know you enjoyed it as much as I did! You might also consider Snow Flower and the Secret Fan, which I mention way up in post #3. It provides a sense of China in the 1800s and was a good read.

Louanne-HI The Namesake was a good book, I really enjoyed it. I am glad that you liked Snow Flower and the Secret Fan, it was a great story, You will have to read Peony in Love, it is a beautiful story. I am enjoying Advice for Italian Boys.

I don't know what my problem is, but I just can't seem to get to China to read Snow Flower and the Secret Fan for my book club read. I left London on schedule, but I've ended up in Bombay, India with Rohinton Mistry and his Family Matters.

I was supposed to go to China with Snow Flower and the Secret Fan, but I must have gotten mixed up at the airport because I ended up in London. Anna Quindlen is showing me around in Imagined London. I should be back at the airport for that flight to China in the next day or so.

I went with the two I already have in my TBR pile - My Sister's Keeper and Snow Flower and the Secret Fan - and Alanna since I keep hearing wonderful things about it.

This was a really tough decision! I ended up voting for My Sister's Keeper, Snow Flower and the Secret Fan, and Bloody Jack. Alanna is one of my all-time favourite books, though, and I do hope we eventually discuss it.

I just began Snow Flower and the Secret Fan by Lisa See. I like the story and the author's writing. I'm settling in for a good read with this book.

I'm having a rather confronting time in 19th century China with Snow Flower and the Secret Fan. Quite sad so far but very absorbing, nonetheless.

Over the past week I've finished: Anne of Green Gables by L M Montgomery Snow Flower and the Secret Fan by Lisa See Lost in a Good Book by Jasper Fforde Am now reading The memory Keeper's Daughter by Kim Edwards.

Managed to read 3 books while I was away: Anne of Green Gables Snow Flower and the Secret Fan Lost in a Good Book All were excellent reads (with Snow Flower and the Secret Fan being the best of the bunch in my opinion). Am now moving onto The Memory Keeper's Daughter...

Snow Flower and the secret fan was such a good book that I read it in two lunch hours and a late night. It looks at womens lives in ancient China, but has a more universal theme of friendship and guilt. I am on the lookout for another book by See.

Despite what I wrote in #68, got sucked into Snow Flower and the Secret Fan which is beautiful and depressing. Almost done with it, and then A Brother's Price is next, really, I swear. ;)
