When Stephen Tamberly's mission to record the Incan artefacts handed over to the Conquistadors was interrupted by the intervention of raiders from the far future, he could little imagine how this would impact on his life and those of his Spanish companion, and niece Wanda as they struggle to control the time hopping technology that had fallen into the hands of the Spaniard who dreamt of saving his empire of a strange future.

This is the most recently written of the Time Patrol stories and some of the attitudes sound even more dated than earlier tales in the sequience ( )

A short, entertaining read. A member of the Time Patrol is accompanying Pizzaro's soldiers in 16th century Peru where he is trying to document the handicrafts and treasures which Pizzaro's men will obtain from the locals after abducting their king and demanding a ransom for his return. While he is there he and a conquistador are abducted by a group of time bandits looking to disrupt history. After various brief adventures through time, also involving a Stanford co-ed, the Time Patrol swoop in and right everything which may have thrown history out of whack. Short, uncomplicated fun. ( )
