The abuse described in this books is very horrible even to think about. It increases the awareness of Munchausen by proxy. I wonder why so many professionals: doctors, teachers, social workers, etc. did not help this child. I read The Glass Castle: A ... ... reading this series in order now. I am reading something much more serious now: Sickened by Julie Gregory. It is memoir of a girl whose mother had Munchausen by Proxy. As with all cases of child abuse, it is a frightening story. 176. Finished 7 March 2009. Let me just say again that recommendations rock my world! I've been working my way through my library pile (see post 28). Sickened was really interesting and Stiff was morbidly delightful. You Suck was definitely - as stephmo said - a good time, exactly what I've come to expect from Moore. ... In high school I read almost everything by CdL I could get my hands on but the result is that many of ... ... enjoyed last year was Dewey, which was very close to me on a personal level. The Glass Castle is phenomenal. Another that reminds me of it, although on a slightly different topic, is Sickened: the memoir of a Munchausen by proxy childhood by Julie Gregory although, according to my sister-in-law, there is evidently some controversy around that one. 18.
