#68 Sickened by Julie Gregory 244 pages The abuse described in this books is very horrible even to think about. It increases the awareness of Munchausen by proxy. I wonder why so many professionals: doctors, teachers, social workers, etc. did not help this child. I read The Glass Castle: A ...

... reading this series in order now. Found this book on inter-library loan. I am reading something much more serious now: Sickened by Julie Gregory. It is memoir of a girl whose mother had Munchausen by Proxy. As with all cases of child abuse, it is a frightening story.

49. Sickened by Julie Gregory Finished 7 March 2009.

Let me just say again that recommendations rock my world! I've been working my way through my library pile (see post 28). Sickened was really interesting and Stiff was morbidly delightful. You Suck was definitely - as stephmo said - a good time, exactly what I've come to expect from Moore. ...

You've read some pretty emotionally challenging books! I want to read Sickened; thanks for mentioning it. That's what I love about LT. I'm not reading as many books in this category anymore so probably would have missed it.

6, 7 The Glass Castle is phenomenal. Another that reminds me of it, although on a slightly different topic, is Sickened: the memoir of a Munchausen by proxy childhood by Julie Gregory although, according to my sister-in-law, there is evidently some controversy around that one.

18. Sickened by Julie Gregory - an excellently written book about Munchausen by proxy. Very difficult to read in many places but I highly recommend it.

I finished Sickened last night - actually stayed up way too late finishing it. It was very good and extremely disturbing. I am about to begin Interpreter of Maladies which I have been looking forward to for some time now.

I finished The Book of Lost Things last night and absolutely loved it! I started Sickened by Julie Gregory, a memoir about Munchausen by proxy, which I find absolutely fascinating but thoroughly disturbing and kind of like The Glass Castle. So far, this girl's childhood by even be ...

#170: Sickened by Julie Gregory A memoir about growing up with a mother who has Munchausen by proxy; the author's mother took her from doctor to doctor in search of a disease she didn't actually have, to the point of even suggesting unncessary heart surgery be done. As if that weren't enough, ...
