After the death of their father, 2 brothers are sent to Norfolk Island penal colony where their uncle is the commandant. Here they find a family friend who had the misfortune of being transported as a convict and who they conspire to help escape.
Interwoven in the story is a good representation of what life was like for both convicts and settlers in the early australian colonies. ( )
