Geralt de Riv, a witcher, uses his vast sorcerous powers to hunt down the monsters that threaten the world, but he soon discovers that not every monstrous-looking creature is evil, and not everything beautiful is good.
JessiAdams: Both are clever adventure fantasy series with some magic and a main character who goes to great lengths to save the world. Both also have moments of laugh out loud hilarity.
I read this for the "Borrowed From A Friend" part of my 2020 reading challenge. I wasn't a fan. I watched the Netflix series first and didn't love that either. It was well acted and well filmed, I just wasn't interested in the plot at all. I found the book very much the same, it was kind of slow and plodding. ( )
Interested because of the Netflix series. The stories get better as they progress. The focus is on Gerault. Yennefer only appears in the last story. Sword of Destiny is next on the list, and I will read it. ( )

Book description
Geralt the Witcher—revered and hated—is a man whose magic powers, enhanced by long training and a mysterious elixir, have made him a brilliant fighter and a merciless assassin. Yet he is no ordinary murderer: his targets are the multifarious monsters and vile fiends that ravage the land and attack the innocent.
But not everything monstrous-looking is evil and not everything fair is good... and in every fairy tale there is a grain of truth.
