This fascinating account does indeed reveal that Princess Louise was the most unconventional of Queen Victoria's daughters. She was a talented artist who attended art school in time where such a thing was unheard of for a young royal woman. She was a protofeminist who smoked, who had a genuine impulse to help others, who had a sharp tongue and a sense of humor. Reading this book made me want to meet this awesome, interesting lady who led such an interesting life. ( )
