No current Talk conversations about this book. copy 2 This "almost saint" lived between 1287-1320 and the author uses the term "best medical care" ... there was no "medical care" between 1200s and 1300s!! Come on!! Are you serious?! Prior to this the author was talking about the prisons, which, yes were horrible during this time but many of the prisoners also suffered with mental illness!! I stopped reading when the author said suffocating a fire with Margaret's cloak was a miracle preformed by Margaret -- science, even science done during a time when people were idiots and didn't know how things worked, is NOT a miracle!!! It's still science!!! I had the same problem with this book that I do with many books about saints -- feeling like I will never ever be "good enough" for God's love because I don't make myself suffer for Him. Hunchback, midget, blind, lame and ugly. Walled in next to a chapel for 14 years; abandoned by her parents at a shrine, she grew in virtue and fame. Her body remains incorrupt. One of the most inspiring stories we have ever read! 128 pgs, PB No library descriptions found. |
