The story is 82 pages-- if you're being generous. Then there's a preview of a Jules Jones book. In my opinion, 82 pages was enough to lay groundwork and set up the scheme of things, but it seems to me that just when the main character figures himself out and takes a deep breath, finally prepared to act on the situation, the story ends. Getting there is all right, but I felt a bit cheated by the lack of 'big picture' resolution.

Characterization is good, and although well-written, the main character's pitiable childhood is an obvious heartstring-puller/ plot device. I felt the villains were a bit stale and under-utilized, more like a nebulous threat of disorganized bullies.

Overall, there's nothing great about the story, but it's not terrible, either. ( )

(From my ARC blurbs collection at my website)
I was asked to blurb an ARC of this; blurb follows: -- "Eclipse of the Heart tackles the issue of prejudice without being preachy, and is a gorgeous love story besides. The scorching sex scenes don't exactly hurt, either. All right, this one could have been written especially for me, but I think it's a must-buy for those who like their gay erotica to be hot and romantic."

Further comments -- Excellent m/m romance, and also a nice fantasy novella about how were creatures might fit into the modern world. The sex is hot without being gratuitous. There's also the benefit of the stunning cover art by Scott Carpenter (and my public drooling over this cover is one of the reasons I got a Scott Carpenter cover for my own novella Mindscan). ( )
