I really disliked this book, especially considering that it is supposed to be at least somewhat autobiographical in nature. I found the main character to be insufferable, manipulative, selfish and dishonest. I actually hoped that his entire life would turn to crap, but his long-suffering fiancee ended up bailing him out. He did not deserve it! ( )

This is Wodehouse's worst book. Unless you are a Wodehouse fanatic who must own everything he has written, don't buy it. full review at:

Much as I hate to do this with the (usually) marvelous Wodehouse,I really do have to give this a low rating and a thumbs-down review.I had great difficulty in even finishing this quite short book.I can understand why it has been rarely reprinted, and the only reason I have a copy is my attempt to eventually own a copy of everything P G wrote.

Despite my talent for drawing up advertisements, I am often in great staits owing to my natural inertia and a passionate love of sleep. I sleep on the slightest provocation or excuse. I will back myself to sleep against anyone in the world, no age, weight, or colour barred.
