I liked this book alot because it was action packed(mostly) and always someone in the wrong palce at the wrong time....i give this book 5 stars because of this and paln to read the next one in this series. the main characters are Jon, Linda, cortana. little do the covenant know, but the marines(UNSC) has a secret weapon.... the sparten super soldier. While they are training Reach is being taken over little by little.there are battles in space mostly and some on land.... If you're a Halo & sci-fi fan, definitely read the book. It's a good airplane read, and better writing than you might expect from a spin-off of a video game. If you haven't played the game or don't like it, you can probably skip it. ( )

my Q4 SSR book.

This book was a nice backstory of how John-117, better known as Master Chief, came to be the deadly and perfect soldier that he is in the games and in the other novels. It shows his growth of how before he thought only of how he can succeed and win as a child back in the training camp, but then he learns how to be part of a team. This is shown when during an assault on a Covenant ship that he decides to leave his friend and comrade Sam behind on the exploding ship in order to buy time for him and another Spartan, Kelly, to escape, which teaches the Cheif a lesson between the difference of a life wasted and a life spent ( )

The book "The Fall of Reach" is bassically about a bunch of children with special genectic abilities that were grabed out of there homes, and told to never see their parents again. They were trained in the military and was also taught by and Ai called Deja. When they grew up they were out through a series of experiments and most or some of them died during the program. But whoever lived -the main main character John did- became a Spartan with extra strenth and rock hard bones. They went on missions and finnaly lived through the last experiment when they out on the special armour. John or master chief had a special AI orogrmamed and put n his head to help him along the way to fight the covenant (and alien species that attacked planet Reach)

Amazon.com Product Description (ISBN 0345451325, Mass Market Paperback)

As the bloody Human-Covenant War rages on Halo, the fate of humankind may rest with one warrior, the lone SPARTAN survivor of another legendary battle . . . the desperate, take-no-prisoners struggle that led humanity to Halo--the fall of the planet Reach. Now, brought to life for the first time, here is the full story of that glorious, doomed conflict.

While the brutal Covenant juggernaut sweeps inexorably through space, intent on wiping out humankind, only one stronghold remains--the planet Reach. Practically on Earth's doorstep, it is the last military fortress to defy the onslaught. But the personnel here have another, higher priority: to prevent the Covenant from discovering the location of Earth.

Outnumbered and outgunned, the soldiers seem to have little chance against the Covenant, but Reach holds a closely guarded secret. It is the training ground for the very first "super soldiers." Code-named SPARTANs, these highly advanced warriors, specially bioengineered and technologically augmented, are the best in the universe--quiet, professional, and deadly.

Now, as the ferocious Covenant attack begins, a handful of SPARTANs stand ready to wage ultimate war. They will kill, they will be destroyed, but they will never surrender. And at least one of them--the SPARTAN known as Master Chief--will live to fight another day on a mysterious and ancient, artificial world called Halo. . . .
