Level: High School

This follows a magical group of youths that are part of the resistance. They have geniuses- magical animals- that they are individually connected to and are lead by an elderly mentor. They are on a mission to find the last two sacred tools needed to overthrow the evil army. This involved a lot of mathematical reasoning - particularly geometry and very detailed battle scenes. This is the 2nd book in a series, and this may have lead to the confusion around the long list of characters, cities and empires that were hard to keep straight. Overall it was unique but hard to follow at times. ( )
