Well that was a bummer....
Loved book 1 enough to spring for the rest of the series. Was looking forward to this book since the h was a gun toting, badge wielding badass and I just love that kind of gal. As it turns out the h was actually not... this book turned her into a hormonal, rage filled neurotic. She should have been in therapy, not walking the streets with a gun. Oh well maybe book 3 will be better... ( )

Ok I really liked the first book, but I just loved this one! Ripley is awesome. This one had just enough humor to lighten it up. I also liked that it wasn't extremely mushy. ( )

Nothing too spectacular about this book.

It was standard and decent, but not outstanding.

I did enjoy Mac's character and seeing how he and Ripley managed to merge and complement each other. ( )

I LOVE Nora Roberts' trilogies. This one is no exception. This is my second time in reading The Three Sisters Island trilogy. This story gives us more of Ripley's story. She's strong and scared and loves in the same way. ( )

I did enjoy the absent minded paranormal professor Mac, the hero, but did not like deputy Ripley, the heroine who angrily suppressed her magical powers. I found the first book in this series exciting but this one was slow going ... undecided about reading the final book in this trilogy.

Epigraph
Swift as a shadow, short as any dream;
Brief as the lightning in the collied night,
That in a spleen unfolds both heaven and earth,
And ere a man hath power to say, "Behold!"
The jaws of darkness do devour it up:
So quick bright things come to confusion.
-- William Shakespeare
Dedication
To all my sisters, not of blood but of the heart, there's the magic.
First words
She called the storm. The gales of wind, the bolts of lightning, the rage of the sea that was both prison and protection. She called the forces, those that lived within her, those that dwelled without. The bright and the dark.
