While a book can never capture all the craziness that is the appeal of Iron Chef the TV show - the dodgy voice-overs, the quirky quips - this book does provide a lot of background information, on the chefs as well as the production of the show. For the geeks, there is a wealth of statistics, for foodies there are recipes, and there are also addresses for the Iron Chefs and some of the most famous challengers.
While some of the interviews/articles are a little hard to take seriously - how can you be so serious about such a wacky show? - you wouldn't expect the official book of the series to contain any dissenting voices. Overall, a good companion piece to one of the most entertaining shows on TV in the 20th century. (
