This is the second book in the Stephanie Plum series, and it's kind of funny and kind of clever, but not enough of either to convince me to read the rest of the series. ( )

Again - fabulous! Laugh-out-loud funny, Stephanie Plum must use her wit and humor to solve another mystery and bounty hunt. This time her target is a psychotic gun runner and his partners, keep her Grandma Mazur safe, and ward off the wiles of cop Joe Morelli. Mystery, mayhem and a lot of fun. ( )

The comedy never stops, Stephanie is as lovable as ever and this book shows where she got her wits and humor, looking forward to the following books. ( )

My Rating: B+

Two For the Dough was a bit better than One for the Money. I found that it kept my interest but I still had some issues with Ms. Evanovich's writing. While the characters are awesome, and full of charisma, she has a tendency to leave the scenes open ended. Often I found that Stephanie starts a scene with another character with her, and then when the scene ends, you're not quite sure how she ended up by herself again.

Other than this little flaw, I really enjoyed the book. The mystery is always fun and the characters are so full of life, you can't help but read more. I was also pleased with the way that Joe Morelli acted in this one, he's a nice little road block for our Miss Plum.

I recommend this book to those who've read the first one, and to anyone looking for a light quick read. ( )

Book description
Stephanie Plum is trying to ease into her new job with a level head. It appears Joe Morelli is around for good - and bad - and she's resigned to it. Her loose professional relationship with Ranger ends in a platonic night together with no strings attached, and her new set of wheels, a secondhand Jeep Wrangler, suits her needs. Until it is stolen out from under her. How is she supposed to nab Kenny Mancuso, her new bail jumper and a distant relative of Morelli's?

Amazon.com Book Description (ISBN 0671001795, Mass Market Paperback)

Bounty hunter Stephanie Plum debuted in Janet Evanovich's award-winning One for the Money. Here, she's back, packing a whole lot of attitude -- not to mention stun guns, defense sprays, and a .38 Smith & Wesson. This time around, she's on the trail of Kenny Mancuso, a boy from the working-class burg of Trenton, New Jersey, who has just shot his best friend. Fresh out of the Army and suspiciously wealthy, Mancuso's also distantly related to Joe Morelli, a vice cop with questionable ethics, a libido in permanent overdrive, and a habit of horning in on Stephanie's investigations.

Aided by her tough bounty hunter pal, Ranger, and her funeral-happy Grandma Mazur, Stephanie's soon staggering knee-deep in corpses, trying to shake Morellifiand stirring up a very nasty enemy.
