Jason Cage is known in Las Vegas as "The Beast Master", no-one knowing that he is in fact a vampire. His telepathic skills were used before to tame wild werewolves. Sofia Hunyara is ignorant of her heritage and her ability to also control werewolves. She lives in fear of dogs since some tried to attack her when she was younger. Shortly before her father was convicted of murder.

Jason has to get Sofia to accept her powers and to join the good guys before the bad guys control her. But can he control his feelings for her.

It's pretty predictable, with some plot details glossed over and some places where I had to wonder if things were going to go badly for the characters, still quite readable. ( )

As with Primal Heat, I really enjoyed this book. I feel more comfortable with this story now that I've gotten used to this world and figured out more of the background that wasn't expressly told to us. Can't wait to read the next book! ( )

A few weeks ago, I read PRIMAL HEAT. It was my first Susan Sizemore book and I totally fell in love with way the author emotionally connected me to her characters. As soon as I was done, I found a copy of PRIMAL DESIRES, the sixth book in this series and started reading it the day of arrival. For the bad news, it wasn't as good as the previous book. Let me explain why.

Something new - it might not be so new and I am just finding out about it - is writers are adding more that one romance to a book. My guess it this sets the scene for the sequel. I find it irritatingly distracting. Let take this book for example.

The book is the romance between Jason Cage and Sofia Hunyara. The author also had a romance going on with Cathy and Mike, and though not as deep, between Sid and Joe. What happened to sticking with the two main characters?

Another problem was using Eden, Sid, and David and their dialogue to explain the story's background. Not only did it make the story unbelievable, but it confused the living daylights out of me.

So is this going to prevent me from reading more? Heck no! In fact, I am going to do something I rarely do and that's go back to the beginning of the series with I BURN FOR YOU. There is also another series I'll be picking up of hers called Laws of the Blood. ( )

A quick-paced story intertwining all the aspects of this fantasy realm - Clan and Family vampires, Natural-Born and Turned werewolves, and mortals. Politics plays a large part in this story, and the romance almost seems skimmed over. Of course, the whole bonding ritual kind of helps that feeling, since they are in love almost from the beginning.
