I love crocheting. That being said, I love this book. I find the instructions really easy to follow, and there are tons of great patterns in this book. There are not 200 different patterns (towards the end it becomes one pattern in four colors). There are probably well over a hundred patterns in this book, and I've had a lot of fun mixing and matching them. This is a great book for crocheters that need projects that are easily portable. A single square doesn't take up much space, and you won't need to lay them all out until your ready to stitch them together. These patterns can also be transformed. I've made a few scarves from the patterns in this book. ( )

true many are repeat patterns.... a few though are very unique and I especially enjoyed making the ones that are pure Christmas into a throw! very beautiful! ( )

This is a great resource for crocheters. The book contains some basic instruction, then it breaks into a parade of colorful squares to crochet. The squares have difficulty designations beside them, making it even easier to choose which ones to use. The book also includes mix-and-match options for squares to use with the one you are working on. Design an afghan like you would design a quilt, block by block. There are infinite possibilities when using these blocks. I give this book 2 hooks up!!! ( )

I wanted to love this book because there are so few really good crochet books out there, but I just found it rather blah. I wasn't that excited about any of the squares, but then I've been looking at things like this for over 50 years of crocheting, so maybe that's the problem. Nothing new to me, nothing that makes me want to pick up the hook. I found the layout of the book irritating and unattractive, too. ( )

Many wonderful squares and a great source of inspiration. Note of caution - there are MANY errors in this book, so be flexible for using your grey matter to deduce what should happen in a pattern. Most of the errors are easily identified thanks to the great pictures. Another source of irritation, the joins between rounds/colors are not well done, in that they are not uniformly designed to enable completing a multi-colored square in a solid color. Again, you can easily determine how to best finish off by reading ahead or making slip stitches, if you look ahead and think about how the item will work up. I would not recommend this book for a beginner crocheter, however, because of the errors and awkward joins. ( )

A fairly useful pattern book. As mentioned in another review, it's more like 100 squares, as there are many 'duplicates.' Contains a good variety of squares. ( )

the blocks are really inspiring, learned a lot from the color combination and pattern combination.

This book is not worth buying. I bought because I'm a huge square fan, but this book is really a waste of money. The second half of the book shows squares in 4 different colorways - each square counts as 4 separate squares. Plus, many of the other squares are shown slightly different - for example, the mitered squares: there are at least 4 or 5 different striping variations, but it's the exact same square. So, in affect, your 200 crochet blocks, are perhaps 20. ( )

beautiful book, fun squares. I did find at least one error in directions which was frustrating, especially because I am a beginner. ( )

The toys, the toys... all the pretty blocks to make into blankies... Thugh it does seem some are just variations of others. ( )
