In this interesting pamphlet, Yungblut asserts that mysticism is the basis of both prophetic and evangelical calls for Quakers. He has a helpful discussion of all of these. One may disagree with his views on Quaker Quietism and his derogation of Quaker universalism, but these are not central to his argument. He concludes that mysticism and the prophetic and evangelical calls, as the basis of Quakerism, are also the future of Quakerism.
This pamphlet is one of six by Yungblut. His thought is summarized usefully in PHP 417 (2012), which clarifies Yungblut's important contribution to Quaker thinking. ( )
