A fabulous retelling of the origin of Captain Marvel. The clean art recreates the barrel-chested hero as a bigger-than-life superhero-in-training in a mostly modern world. There's a lot of goofy humor interspersed with a deadly tale of greed ... and there are several big scenes of destruction where people battle while having long conversations. It's a good entry point for newer fans, while keeping most of the basics of the original for the long-time readers. ( )
