... about the series (which I still haven't seen) and I liked it a lot, at least up 'til the 2001-esque ending. I also enjoyed Rollback by the same author, but if you didn't like one you probably won't like the other.
still reading Under The Dome here, when I get a chance to that is.. you do indeed crimson-tide, along with Rollback which is somewhat similar in theme and excellence :) ... my library doesn't have many of Sawyer's books and they aren't available in any bookstores. I have my eye on Rollback but there are quite a few other scifi writers I've been intending to read and I should get back to Iain M Banks' Culture books as I was impressed with his The Play ... Stasia--I've read several books by Sawyer (can't remember all names) and enjoyed them, must recently Rollback. 3. Rollback by Robert J. Sawyer, 320 pages
I like Sawyer's books, and this one is no exception. Although it moved a bit slow, Sawyer raised interesting questions concerning aging and genetic research/application.
Total pages = 894 I'm in the middle of Rollback by Robert J. Sawyer and Ending an Ending by Danny Birt. As soon as I finish one of those, probably tomorrow, I'll begin Night Shift. I'm excited about reading these stories again. Happy New Year everyone!
I'm currently reading Rollback by Robert J. Sawyer and Ending an Ending by Danny Birt. I am listening to The Night Caller by John Lutz. I'm currently reading Rollback by Robert J. Sawyer and Ending an Endingby our very own Danny Birt. My TBR pile is actually larger than it was this time last year. ... Bed" fame.
A stop at the APL's "free books" bin was worthwhile, and I got home to find an ARC of Robert Sawyer's Rollback in the mail from BookMooch. 39. Rollback by Robert J. Sawyer 4/5 Books 51-60:
51. The Swarm by Arthur Herzog. Thriller 3*/5
52. Rollback by Robert J. Sawyer. SF 3*/5
53. Knowledge of Angels by Jill Paton Walsh Fiction 3*/5
54. Deathstalker Rebellion by Simon R. Green. SF 3*/5
55. Magicians of Night by Barbara Hambly. Fantasy 3* ... Rollback by Robert J. Sawyer
Old Man's War by John Scalzi
Sojourn by Jana G. Oliver time travel to the Victorian era
And an honorable mention to an excellent free romance novella, Ember by Bettie Sharpe, which is available at the author's website.
http://www.bettiesharpe.com ... Gave up on reading Rollback. I didn't like when Don has an affair. I think he should've waited until Sarah had pasted away and then persued Lenore.
Started On Stranger Tides yesterday. Just finished Angelica. A great Victorian pschological thriller. Will start reading Rollback tomorrow.
So far I have read 13 books. Oh, my, ghod. Rollback was even worse than I thought it would be (and I DID review it). Was glad to get back to some good short stories by Paul Melko and now more by Greg Egan. I guess I'll have to read the Michael Chabon novel soon. Then on to the Hugo nominated short stories. ... ten years since that period. I think it's one SO as the winner in the last eleven years.
Brasyl, Halting State and Rollback all have a near-future tone. The World Science Fiction is in Montreal in 2009. I expect that there were a larger number of Canadians who nominated Rollback. Also Sawyer always gets a big vote from the Analog crowd. I only read Sawyer when he is nominated, so I guess I will have to buy this one.
Personally I found the ... ... never read a book by Robert J. Sawyer. I would like to hear more about why people like or dislike his writing. For me Rollback sounds like the most interesting story on the ballot. ... Yiddish Policeman's Union by Michael Chabon (HarperCollins, Fourth Estate)
Brasyl by Ian McDonald (Gollancz; Pyr)
Rollback by Robert J. Sawyer (Tor; Analog Oct. 2006-Jan/Feb. 2007)
The Last Colony by John Scalzi (Tor)
Halting State by Charles Stross (Ace; Orbit) 49. Rollback by Robert J. Sawyer
Another near future sci-fi suspense from Canadian author Sawyer. In the same vein and style of some of his previous works (Flash Forward, The Terminal Experiment and Mindscan, for instance) Rollback is the story of an old married couple; Don and his wife S ... ... I'll read anything LMB writes, but this series is, thus far, my least favorite of all her work.
- Robert J. Sawyer's Rollback
- Charlie Stross's Glasshouse. I just read some other Stross and more just sounds like work right now so it may take me a while to get to this one.
- A ... ... current. His latest are Mindscan which my husband read and enjoyed (if I remember correctly), and the new one in April is Rollback.
