With the book you can really get your teeth in and explore. The art is nice, but each panel seems to be all one color and my eyes just sort of glossed over the art in favor of the dialogue panels. In short, I recommend the book. The graphic novel is good for a faster refresher course, but not as satisfying. As for it's paralelling the original book, this was good. But there were some things about the art work that I have to disagree with. For one thing, Butler's neck muscles were quite unrealistic. Secondly, Foally was supposed to be a handsome centaur. Why was he blue with a weird nose? My favorite part of the book would have to be the goblins. I didn't picture them as lizards in my mind but that would be cool. And Mulch was...well, Mulch. They depicted him very well- though I expected more of a dwarf or "garden gnome" appearence. For those who haven't read the original book - I recommend you read it first and then read this. You will enjoy both. For those who have read the original book - you won't be disappointed. The graphic novel does a great job of capturing the plot and characters, is true to the original in all ways, and has some really great art. I like the original book a bit better - Colfer's writing is just great and doesn't need to be shortened - but this is a nice way to experience the story too. 0.115 seconds to build listing

Nearly seven years ago, I wrote about how much I loved ARTEMIS FOWL by Eoin Colfer. I've been booktalking it ever since then. By far, my favorite graphic novel of 2007 is ARTEMIS FOWL: THE GRAPHIC NOVEL. The story doesn't let up for one moment and the artwork and the quality of the finished book are stunning. This one should be in every single school library from elementary up through high school. (
