This marriage of convenience story was okay. But I think I just don't click with DM's writing style. Some how I always feel like I can see her writing. In other words, I am not totally drawn into the story but can see the effort put in. This is my 3rd try at this author and I think I'm done. ( )

A great story of how one person can make such a big difference. It is important for all to feel needed. ( )

This wasn't my favorite Debbie Macomber book. I liked the story, but there was far more sex than you'd expect from her books. ( )

A sweet feel-good read, A shy librarian marries via a personal ad in the days when technology wasn’t so prevalent in our society. Travis is a hard-working rancher whose taken on the care of his older brother’s three children. Travis decides he needs to marry for the sake of the children, so he and Mary go into this marriage with the purpose of raising the children.
I liked that there was no insta love, they were both not what the other was expecting. Travis wanted a long-legged woman, but he got a small shy sweet woman instead. Mary wanted a romantic like herself, but Travis doesn’t have one romantic bone in his body. With all their differences they decide to try and make their marriage a real one.
I really enjoyed watching these two characters go through their own personal growth both separately and together. Overall, this was a really enjoyable “cleanish” read, I say “cleanish” because there are intimate scenes between Travis and Mary, but I liked the way this author wrote those intimate scenes without using vulgar language and without being too explicit, they are a married couple and that is a part of them growing in their relationship as husband and wife.
What I did not like about this story was the story going on between the side characters, I see what the author was trying to do with the mystery surrounding the death of Travis’s older brother and his wife but at the same time I don’t think so much of the story needed to be focused on those character for them to solve the mystery.
