I'm reading Mansfield Park, Jane Austen book club, in the woods, and America (the book) ... So, these are high-quality subtle horror stories, that are often creepier on the second read than the first.

Since I'm a fan of the Daily Show, I couldn't resist when I saw this at the local used book store. Very funny!

Among the works that touchstoned, I have catalogued six books of which I have read two. I notice, though, that America, number 100, didn't touchstone in your list, and I both have it and have read it.

ETA: Next time I watch The Daily Show, I'll watch for his touchy-feelies. You know, I kinda think he's an F, ... ... and plays it well. I've definitely laughed out loud at bits. It's entertaining and silly.

Does anyone remember the magazine Book that Barnes & Noble used to publish? I found some old back issues from 2003 at my library's bookstore, but the magazine didn't last very long. Very sad. Stephen Colbert. I know it's tv, but it's the best satire around.

Thomas Moor ... Confederacy of Dunces made me laugh aloud in public many times. America, The Book: Teacher's Edition. Mark Twain's anti-imperialist works. Bob Black's work. Man in the Black Coat (anthology of absurdist lit from Russia). ... of morality - if you have no choice between right and wrong you have no opportunity to be moral. In De Tocqueville's "Democracy in America " he talked about one of the distinguishing traits of Americans in the early 1800's (when people were largely libertarian in ideology) that religion ... ... Stephen Sherrill on my wishlist. I'm glad to hear positive things about it so far.
Of course, I've got to give it up to America (the book): a citizen's guide to democracy inaction by The Daily Show writers (incl. Jon Stewart); it helps to keep me somewhat sane in these troubled times. ... his book Below the Beltway is one of the better pieces of American political humor of the past decade or so (right behind America: The Book, another very popular work that hasn't been mentioned here).
