Delaney and Nick made out once when they were teenagers but they were caught by her stepfather - Nick's own father - and forced apart. Though Henry never acknowledged Nick as his son in life, he does in death by creating a will that forces Delaney to stay in Truly, Idaho for a year but at the same time forces Nick to stay away from her. When their relationship heats up again, it just about threatens to burn the town down. a suprisingly great read; not gibson's usual romantic comedy; it's a somewhat serious and emotional story, full of unrequited love, angst and childhood hurts and passions revisited; loved it!! suprisingly good read....one of Gibson's best novels; not very humorous...but dark, passionate and revealed a lot of angst. great chemistry between the characters. will read again i was so bored due to the fact that i live in the countryside and i got snowed in, i decided to try this book,i brought it for £2.99 but didnt expect it to be any good, as id never heard of the author and the cover looked quite cheap...but as they say, NEVER judge a book by the cover! As soon as i started this book,i could NOT put it down,i even missed eastenders to read it! i just couldnt stop reading it, i needed to know what happened and with every page i eagerly waited to find out how it all ended, and i wasnt disapointed! the best book ive read in a long time, altho at times the charactor nick seemed a bit...odd and perverted to me, but still, a really really good book! id recommend it to anybody! just dont start reading it when you have things to do!! as you wont want to stop reading. no reviews | add a review

Small-town life is everything that Delaney fears it to be: high school rivalries and old rumors about Delaney and Nick resurrect themselves with predictable immediacy. Gossip nears the truth as the sexual sparks fly between Nick and Delaney. Nick's reputation as a ladies man hasn't changed, either, and Delaney reminds herself that he can love her and leave her just as brutally as he did 10 years ago. But when the two find themselves in close proximity, all their best intentions fly out the window and intense passion consumes them.
Truly Madly Yours has the same originality and sauciness that made Rachel Gibson's first work, Simply Irresistible, popular with readers. While each page brings a new take on the familiar "black sheep, old flame" plot, the main characters are at times a bit unappealing. Delaney's unqualified disgust for Truly becomes a tired mantra and no amount of biker jackets and muttered "wild things" can neutralize Nick's anachronistic womanizing. Gibson wisely focuses her attention on clever dialogue and original situations, and the overall result is a delightful and completely entertaining read. --Nancy R.E. O'Brien

At times I thought the antagonism between them was a little too much, even though it makes complete sense due to their personal histories - and their complex shared one. Still, I felt like those little nuggets of accord and sweet/tender/funny/cute/etc. moments were a little too few and far between in the first half of the book, if not the first two-thirds. Nick often almost crossed the line into being a little too mean for my taste, but it was usually fixed with an apology/clarification on his part not too long after.
Though there was a little too much yo-yo-ing for me in Nick's behavior towards Delaney and I would have preferred him to be a bit more constant and consistent, this book was a great read and one I look forward to picking up again in the future. (
