Work detailsTruly Madly Yours by Rachel Gibson
None. I thought it would have been a lot better. I didn't care about Delaney and Nick was a very boring character. Nothing really happened except the slow movement of the two characters progressing. ( )This gets prize for the worse proofing I can ever remember noting on a professionally published book. In the hundred pages of this contemporary romance I pushed myself to read, I noticed two cases of "too" where it should have been "to," "soul" instead of "sole" a "ly" suffix left off twice. I guess I shouldn't necessarily blame the author for shoddy copyediting--I can however blame her for the ludicrous (yet in romance books) cliched plot, where the stipulations of a will are used to force the two romantic protagonists together. All might have been forgiven if the book offered me something--absorbing plot with twists and turns, immersed me in its small-town Idaho setting, striking prose, memorable characters I cared about, made me laugh--anything. But it was just blah, and I didn't care about Delaney or Nick, so at the end of Chapter Four and 99 pages I put it down. Another winner from Rachel Gibson. Delaney and Nick made out once when they were teenagers but they were caught by her stepfather - Nick's own father - and forced apart. Though Henry never acknowledged Nick as his son in life, he does in death by creating a will that forces Delaney to stay in Truly, Idaho for a year but at the same time forces Nick to stay away from her. When their relationship heats up again, it just about threatens to burn the town down. a suprisingly great read; not gibson's usual romantic comedy; it's a somewhat serious and emotional story, full of unrequited love, angst and childhood hurts and passions revisited; loved it!! suprisingly good read....one of Gibson's best novels; not very humorous...but dark, passionate and revealed a lot of angst. great chemistry between the characters. will read again no reviews | add a review
