In a desert, Paradise is envisioned as a garden. This useful book will tell you what to plant there, but success is not guaranteed. Despite being as constant a gardener as I can, I have an uncanny knack for herbicide and you can actually hear plants shriek when I walk into a nursery.

Last night at a charity auction, I won a one hour session with a horticulturist. She will probably need the equivalent amount of time with a therapist to get over the experience.

Oh, yeah. A review (stay your hand, flagger!). The various editions of this work are very useful for those in the western United States, although this edition does not include some species which may have been introduced in recent years. A good resource.

I like this edition better than the older one. The photos are a great improvement. ( )
