Loading... Astonishing X-Men Vol. 2: Dangerousby Joss WhedonSeries: X-Men, Astonishing X-Men (Vol. 2, Issues #7-12)
Few can resist the charms of Joss Whedon. Certainly I find myself snatching up whatever has his name on it (although I never going into the Slayerverse). His plot lines are (almost) always intriguing, pushing the edge and exploring human nature. If you enjoy X-Men at all, you'll love Whedon's addition to the universe. I just have to wonder: why and when did Cyclops develop a small, puggish head with a weak chin? Joss Whedon brings his brilliance to the joy that is the X-Men, but the art falls short here and there. This is an exciting storyline, but did they really have to make Cyclops ugly? Excellent. From the back cover: " A tragic death at the Xavier Institute reveals a powerful enemy living among the X-Men that they never could have suspected- and no, it's not Magneto. Things heat up in a way none of the X-men ever dreamed, but will teamwork save the day when they can't even depend on themselves? Collecting Astonishing X-men #7-12" the danger room comes alive AMAZING. Joss Whedon does such a good job with this title... it's really really amazing. His storyline is fantastic as is the dialogue, and everything in general! I didn't enjoy the second collection of this series as much as I did the first. This one read a lot more like a traditional X-Men comic series, focusing on action and fighting rather than the dialogue. Given that I'm reading these because Joss is writing them I was rather disappointed at the lack of actual dialogue. This one just felt like any other X-Men comic. Colossus returns in Astonishing X-Men. Not having read X-Men for a long time before I started with the Astonishing run I had no idea that this had happened, anyway, so if that was cheesy to those that had been following all along, it is proably understandable. Might be a 50% chance now that some of the main X-Men have died and returned. Anyway, not as good as the first trade. http://graphicsf.blogspot.com/2006/12... Wait. Wasn't the first volume good? |
