Doctor Who and the Face of Evil (edition 1983)

Here, the Doctor and Leela get intro trouble because of the octor himself.

An earlier exploit has led to the particular inhabitants that are not too pleased with him seeing him as a bad thing - due to an image of the Doctor himself.

This is another case of the tv version being better, particularly Leela, in a situation that caters to her strengths.

Doctor Who and the Face of Evil has a couple of interesting differences with the TV version: Leela is actually portrayed as young, vulnerable and, well, girly in a way that is inconsistent both with the TV story as shown and with the other books. Also, of course, we have the explanation of how the Doctor's face became the Face of Evil, as the result of a solo adventure shortly after his regeneration. ( )
