Lucy is cast as an extra in a movie. Thrilled to be part of the show, it nevertheless makes more demands on her during the busy Christmas season. A surprise visit by her son and his family adds to to her stress, not to mention the death of one of the members working on the movie set. When a friend of Lucy’s is arrested, she goes into sleuthing mode. This is a quick read, with all the characters regular readers have come to love. Perfect for Christmas time, just watch out for sharp knives when cutting the yule log! ( )

Lucy is an extra on a movie set, and, no surprise, she finds a dead body. The victim was one of the actors, and now a friend of Lucy’s is a prime suspect. Meanwhile, family is gathering at Lucy’s house for Christmas, things are a little tense on the home front, and Lucy has to work an extra job on Christmas Eve, mostly as a favor. It’s certainly a hectic holiday! But eventually, the truth comes out, and it will be a merry Christmas for almost everyone. It’s always nice to connect the the Stone family, especially at Christmas. What a great collection of Christmas stories! We open with Leslie Meier’s tale set in Tinker’s Cove, Maine, where reporter Lucy Stone is sent to cover a story about a movie that’s filming in town around Christmas time and soon witnesses a murder. (And of course, a Yule Log Cake is involved.) Lots of fun Christmas-themed scenes as Lucy’s family comes to town and she has to negotiate extra dogs, baking Christmas cookies, trips to the Nutcracker, in-laws, surprise guests, family squabbles, and more. This was a delightful read.

Next, we have more family fun with Lee Hollis’s story. I haven’t yet read her series, only a few novellas and I’m looking forward to catching up with her cozies set in Bar Harbor. Hayley’s family is also home for Christmas, there are surprise boyfriends, and other surprises, more Yule Log Cakes, and a catering event that goes sour when another murder occurs. The victim was a young man with many shall we say older women friends? As Hayley works to figure out which cougars bite, (there’s also a hilarious scene with her daughter’s boyfriend), this one is a hoot! Finally we have Barbara Ross’s story to close things up and a suspicious case of Yule Log Cakes that may be the source of people mysteriously disappearing. This one was lots of fun!

Please excuse typos/name misspellings. Entered on screen reader. ( )

Since this is an anthology I'm going to try to do this broken down individually.

Truly it's a cute mystery that keeps you on your toes but I felt like there was too much happening to keep track of what the story was about.

This was a little darker and had me guessing.

I kinda loved this one. I loved the character bonding that took place. After all, it is Christmas! ;) ( )

I somehow didn't realise these were short stories when I started, so was surprised how quickly the first story wrapped up. The final story is easily my favourite, but they're all respectable mysteries, and I love the addition of the recipes! ( )
