Heaney is my favorite contemporary poet and this is a great collection of his work. I particularly like the verses when he talks about playing with a bicycle wheel in a mud puddle. ( )

Basic Reason for Beginning: This is on the course material list for one of the courses I want to take next semester.
Basic Reason for Finishing: *points up*
Texture: *twitchtwitch* The whole anthology made me very twitchy.

Rereadability: I'm probably going to reread this around the time we'll talk about the book, but other than that? Don't know.
Recommendation: *ruffles hair* Only if you're obsessed with reading everything which has won the Nobel prize, really. This just didn't do much for me. ( )

Amazon.com Product Description (ISBN 0374523894, Paperback)

Seeing Things (1991), as Edward Hirsch wrote in The New York Times Book Review, "is a book of thresholds and crossings, of losses balanced by marvels, of casting and gathering and the hushed, contrary air between water and sky, earth and heaven." Along with translations from the Aeneid and the Inferno, this book offers several poems about Heaney's late father.
