I've tried a couple other series this year that were only OK, but this Cal Leandros series has been wonderful so far. Cal's voice is great, and I love his relationship with his brother Niko. Great characters and action scenes too-love this series! 2nd book in the Cal Leandros series, this book is all action. The two Leandros brothers are hired by a werewolf to look into some shady action within the crime-family pack. But this turns out to be a set up for a much larger, and much more dangerous job. Really enjoyed this and ready to jump into book 3! If you haven't read this or started this series... why have you not read this??? Come on, you are an UrbFan fan right? You like things that go bump in the night and those forced to deal with it? Who doesn't or should I say of course you do otherwise you wouldn't be reading this review. Abbragor is still the most impressive and most impressively gross creature I have ever read. Whenever he occupies a page, my eyes are glued. The detail, wow. As always I love Cal but his brother Niko, I love just a little bit more. His protectiveness and his repression tactics- they are such a good team! I know that many people swear by these series, but I didn't feel one way or the other. It wasn’t bad or anything (thankfully no characters with the emotional intelligence of a baked burrito) but I've read much better. To be completely honest I can think more than 10 books in the same genre I enjoyed more than this. So, 2,5 stars from me rounded up to 3. no reviews | add a review
After saving the world from his fiendish father's side of the family, Cal Leandros and his stalwart half-brother Niko have settled down with new digs and a new gig-bodyguard and detective work. And in New York City, where preternatural beings stalk the streets just like normal folk, business is good. Their latest case has them going undercover for the Kin-the werewolf Mafia. A low-level Kin boss thinks a rival is setting him up for a fall, and wants proof. The place to start is the back room of Moonshine-a gambling club for non-humans. Cal thinks it's a simple in-and-out job. But Cal is very, very wrong. Cal and Niko are being set up themselves-and the people behind it have a bite much worse than their bark...
