The story line may be trite and hoary, but the crafting was good, the story was fun.
Unlike many a book, I pick the Wolfwalker books up and put food off till I've read them cover to cover - usually. ( )

If you are a bit fan of wolves, you'll enjoy this book. Otherwise, it wasn't bad, just wasn't that great either. The idea isn't that original, it appears in Robert Jordan's books, David Edding's books, etc. ( )

Book description
Silence of the Wolves

As a wolkwalker, Dione made an ideal border scout. She could experience the woods and mountains through the sense of her companion, the wolf Gray Hishn; even the wold wolves fed her their impressions. and that was how she knew that in the beleaguered lands across the border, something unspeakable was happening. the wolves were fleeing id droves. and those that remained behind had cut Dion off from their packsong. Nothing but their terrible grief and despair leaked through.

Dion knew that time was running out for the people on the other side of the border - and for wolves everywhere. Her only hope lay with an ancient rite that had remained untested for generations...the Calling of the Wolves!
----------------
Wolfsong
Wolfwalkers! The wolves howled.

Come! Dion shouted joyfully, We run with you. Now run with us.

The packsong swept in, catching Dion as if she were a leaf before an autumn wind. Wolfwalker!

Dione howled, an inhuman sound Come!

The gray tide shifted. From den to ridge, the summons swept. Wolves roused, stretched, cocked their heads, listened to the silent wind. Voices joined. Packs merged. Deep in the earth, deep in the forest, that howl grew, rising to the wind and carrying across the canyon, east tot eh desert, north to the mountains, south to the sea.

Howl with the wind, Wolfwalker! We Come!
