( )I read this a long time ago when I took a Japanese studies class and it was a very fascinating book. Presents several different aspects of the differences in Japanese culture as well as some of the differences between the new generations and the older generations. A jaw-dropper of a book written about the Bubble Era (the 80s) of Japan when motorcycle gangs ruled the streets late at night, and the porn industry was just getting off the ground. A non-fiction guide to real Japan. A student gave me a copy of this book. Even though the book is several years old, it is a fascinating look at a part of Japanese society not ordinarily discussed. I thoroughly enjoyed Speed Tribes and it was a quick read. Mostly fictional account of Japanese youth in the mid-90s. no reviews | add a review
