Having only finally read Possession a Romance this year, I am determined not to wait so long to read The Children's Book. Thanks for the push. IMHO, Possession is excellent. I hope you enjoy it, Nancy. #94 and 95 Please may I second the positive comment regarding Possession ?
Have had to return Land of Green Plums by Herta Muller to the library, unifnished .... spent too long trying to settle into it, maybe another time.
Now I am going for something completely different The Cruel Way ... #94> Nancy, PLEASE do try Possession, it is a marvelous book. You will love it, I promise you! I was going to finish off Possession over the weekend, but had a sloppy weekend instead...:

Next I'm going to start reading Possession, because I've been carting an old copy around with me for the last three moves. It's time. ... even though I like Butler. And you're the first one to really tempt me re: The Children's Book. I only liked Posession once I started skipping all the poetry, plus I didn't like the male character that much for how he treated the girlfriend he had been living with. 177. Possession -- This novel is about literary research on a pair of fictional Victorian poets. Their poetry is included in the book as well. Unforgivably indulgent to the detriment of a promising (albeit unfulfilled) narrative. My favorites would probably be The Blind Assassin, The Famished Road and Possession, although I really enjoyed both Peter Carey novels also.
