Amazon.com Amazon.com Review (ISBN 0743229193, Paperback)Magic is much deeper than casting spells, fulfilling wishes, and dabbling in witchcraft. In Everyday Magic Australian-based shaman Nevill Drury speaks to the spiritual foundation of magic: to discover your true calling and then ask the universe for support in manifesting your reason for being. Every meditation, vision, and spell is held to a spiritual litmus test: Will it support a greater good? Is it intended to enhance my true calling? This accountability toward magic-making is especially needed in a market that is glutted with irreverent and even irresponsible books. Drury (The History of Modern Magic), a lecturer and workshop leader, is clearly grounded in the historical and scientific roots of magic. He easily references the kabbalah, quantum physics, Sanskrit text, and goddess spirituality. Still, Drury's narration is best when he's in workshop mode--teaching the nuts and bolts of visualizations, affirmations, spells, and how to create a sacred space. Fortunately, most of the book is packed with this kind of strong, meaty advice. He also includes a comprehensive bibliography and index. --Gail Hudson(retrieved from Amazon Wed, 06 Jan 2010 08:35:50 -0500) The first test round has been closed.
