Classic Literature. Fiction. HTML:

The orphan Tom Sawyer, raised by his aunt, is never out of trouble for long. A mischievous, charming boy (not to mention genius at escaping from trouble), Tom's adventures involve many unwitting bystanders. From one moment to the next, the boy could change into a pirate, or ship's captain - when he's not trying to win Becky Thatcher for a sweetheart, of course. Tom is also a friend of Twain's other beloved boy-hero, Huckleberry Finn.

A classic I never read when I was a kid. Once I got comfortable with the writing, I really enjoyed the story. I never realized there were 4 in this series, so I will definitely read the other 3. There were points where I felt like Twain was just rambling about something that had nothing to do with the story and those dragged on but once you get past that it gets better. ( )

I know it's a classic, but personally I didn't love it. I found parts of it quite boring and unnecessary. There are some exciting parts, such as the cave and the boys run ins with Injun Joe, but overall, I didn't find it that spectacular ( )

I love the book because it is a classic, and accurately portrays life during that time, but I still struggle with the language in the book, even though I know times were different then. That being said, the core values of working hard and obeying authority are values I would love see return to America. It is a great read as a student or as someone who wants to understand more about country life and the past. ( )

A great story, funny and the adventures and mischief young teenagers would love. ( )

Twain's classic has humor, suspense, language issue.

Dedication

First words
Preface
Although my book is intended mainly for the entertainment of boys and girls, I hope it will not be shunned by men and women on that account, for part of my plan has been to try pleasantly to remind adults of what they once were themselves, and of how they felt and thought and talked, and what queer enterprises they sometimes engaged in.
"TOM!" No answer. "TOM!" No answer. "What's gone with that boy, I wonder? You TOM!" No answer.
Quotations
He had discovered a great law of human action, without knowing it—namely, that in order to make a man or a boy covet a thing, it is only necessary to make the thing difficult to attain.
