Book three in the Serrated Edge series centers around the Elvish racecar driver Maclyn. He is hunted by a bountyhunter looking fot people with 'TK' talents, while he himself searches for a human girl with magic.
The child - Amanda - has multiple personality disorder due to abuse, and Maclyn has to deal with drugging and murder attempts at the same time as he has to defend his Elven home from the magic monsters created by one of Amandas personalities. The novel has a very eighties feel to it, and seems a bit superficial for all that it deals with very serious issues - one of the characters try to research child abuse, and at the bookstore she is recommended a number of books, among others a fantasy book from Baen. Very meta.
With its emphasis on action and presenting its issues, the person development is lacking, and the story has little imperative. ( )
