A young couple buys a beautiful house by a picturesque lake in the Catskills, looking to escape the bustle of the city to raise their newborn baby. It is a perfect place for a fresh start. Except that nothing is ever as perfect as it seems. As autumn nights close in around their home, they learn that darkness takes many forms. And sometimes that darkness is hungry. New York Times best-selling author Jonathan Maberry delivers an unsettling Audible Original that will give listeners the Halloween creeps all year round. Maberry, whose works include the popular Joe Ledger thrillers (read by Ray Porter), the Rot & Ruin YA zombie apocalypse novels, and V-Wars (soon to be a Netflix series starring The Vampire Diaries' Ian Somerhalder), switches from visceral action to unnerving supernatural suspense.… (more)

I needed a short dose of horror and this Audible Original delivered. A couple buys an old, haunted house in the Catskills. Strange things occur in the nursery of their newborn. It’s a pretty straightforward plot, but it truly gave me the chills. ( )

Super quick "read". Would be a great ghost story if they just expanded the plot. I know I know, its a short story. But I see a lot of potential in the story if the author had decided to just go with it. ( )

Narration was great. Story was ok, a bit haunting, a bit sad. ( )

I enjoyed listening to this short story. It took about an hour. Creepy ghost story. ( )

The story felt lacking in some places, but the narration was spot on. ( )
