This book is the story of BASIC, from its elementary version in 1964 to True BASIC in 1984 as told by its creators, John G. Kemeny and Thomas E. Kurtz.

When the street fight was over, Bill Gates' "corrupt" versions of Microsoft BASIC, QuickBASIC, and Visual BASIC emerged as the winners, not True BASIC. ( )
