This book follows the perspective of a preschool girl sneaking into her brother's kindergarten classroom. She discovers what it is like to go to school and the book does a great job of introducing the school experience. ( )

This book is about a preschooler who walks into her brother's kindergarten class and familiarizes herself with the typical kindergarten day. This is a good example of contemporary realistic fiction because many preschoolers have siblings or friends that are in kindergarten.

This is a good contemporary realistic fiction book because it goes through the first day of a kindergarten through a kindergartener eyes.
Media: Water Color
I would use this book on the first day of kindergarten!
I would also use this book to show comparisons of the students first day compared to the little girl in the book.
Genre: Contemporary Realistic Fiction

Tiptoe into Kindergarten is a wonderful story about a girl who is nervous about beginning school and wonders what it is going to be like. She goes through her first day in a shy manner, quietly observing. However, throughout the story she progresses into becoming more comfortable, having fun, and in the end decides kindergarten is fun and she hopes to be back soon. This book would be a great way to start off kindergarten year, as a way to get students excited about school!
