139. Fearless Fourteen by Janet Evanovich ... not SF in my mind. Agree that Spook Country was not up to snuff, though it did improve on rereading. I think i bought Thirteen last year too; hough it'd be my pick, if eligible. After Dark, as much as i liked it, would really have to be shoved in sideways to qualify as SF. Hell, then ... Ok I've definitely ODed on Stephanie Plum ... I just finished Lean Mean Thirteen and I have to thank Janet Evanovich for many a chuckle but I am now done ... I don't think I want to read another of Ms Plum's escapades for quite a while.

I finished Lean Mean Thirteen. Very funny. Evanovich provides comfy fun. Not a lot changes with the characters and the overall story arc. That bothers some, but for me she keeps ... ...

... to read when you can't be on your bottom, you can lay on your side, on your stomach, stand, etc. This week I finished: Lean Mean Thirteen, Summer Blowout (my ER book, I'll have to write the review this weekend), Queen's Fool, The Virgin's Lover and I'm now reading Henry VIII by Ali ... So last week I said I was starting Tipping Point, which I did, and was trying to hold off reading Lean Mean Thirteen, which I didn't. Hold off, that is. Plowed through it in one night, of course, annoying my partner, just laughing and shaking the bed.
Back to Tipping Point this week, as well ... ... That was three years ago, and I could never find this last piece to my collection...until I discovered Book Mooch!

Stephanie Plum novels are kind of like a well worn armchair or a comfy pair of slippers. You know all their contours and they make you feel good.
Janet Evanovich's plots are in some ways predictable: Stephanie is always bumbling around try to ... I thought Lean Mean Thirteen wasn't up to par (along with the few before that). The wife's reading Fearless Fourteen now - she got to it before I did - and has woken me up the last several nights laughing at it. So maybe there's hope that the latest is better than the last few? Maybe the story ... ... but as you do I feel that the last few of her books just don't have the same zeal that they once had. Don't get me wrong Lean Mean Thirteen and Fearless Fourteen both had some laughs but not that same laugh out loud humor that were customed to having with these books. 21. The Eyre Affair

rianoel in Romance - from historical to contemporary : What are you reading - week of April 14, 2008 (Apr 17, 2008, 7:48pm) I read Lean Mean Thirteen and figured out I ordered Plum Lucky on sale a few months back, but it's not due to be shipped until mid-May. And I put Fearless Fourteen on my PBS WL, but (at last check) I was number 430 out of 433 wishing for it, so I think I won't be holding my breath when its ... I read Plum Lovin' by Janet Evanovich. I'm almost all caught up now. I have two books left, Lean Mean Thirteen, and Plum Lucky. I don't own PL, so I'll read LMT and put the other one on my pbs wish list.

I would recommend starting with Altered Carbon

I know, ya don't get much fluffier than Stephanie Plum! She always cracks me up though...this particular episode had me rolling! Every time someone mentioned the cable company, another character would always respond, "those f***ers". Ridiculous ... ... I never read Q or R, so I may go back and read those, plus I just saw T at B&N and have ordered it from my library.
(2) Lean Mean Thirteen - another quick, easy, fun mystery. I think this might have been my favorite so far.

Dottie Jo I finished Lean, Mean Thirteen yesterday - these books only take me a day to read. Just the break I needed from some heavier reading I had been doing. I know they aren't any great literary masterpieces but they are laught out loud funny. I have just started Thoreau's Laundry which is a ... ... able to read it. I finished Heart Shaped Box this afternoon and started Lean, Mean Thirteen. Loved Heart Shaped Box and Lean, Mean Thirteen is just the brain candy that I need right now after reading some pretty heavy books lately.

25. The Adultery Diet by Eva Cassady - an editor wants to meet up with an old boyfriend, ... 75. Lean, Mean Thirteen, Janet Evanovich. 3-1/2 stars. This one has Stephanie up against Ranger (yum) and Joe (yum also), trying to figure out what happened to her slimy ex after he disappears and his business partners start turning up burned to a crisp. A light, fun read.
ETA to add: R ... Just finished Winter House, a Mallory mystery by Carol O'Connell. Oh, SO good!! Will probably start Lean Mean Thirteen ~ which is sort of a mystery, isn't it? ~ tonight. ... Winter House by Carol O'Connell, which I am gobbling up so quickly that I should finish tonight. Then, probably Lean Mean Thirteen, which is due back to the library soon. Also still listening to the audiobook of The Road, which is brilliant (in a really depressing way). I am ... Boy, do I know that one! And Lean Mean Thirteen was great, as always, and you get to see more into the character of Dickie Orr (the ex) - though I wonder if she'll ever choose between Ranger and Joe. Though I think in the end she'll have to choose Joe....anywho.

When Ranger ... Just finished Lean Mean thirteen by Janet Evanovich and working on The thorn birds by Colleen McCullough and Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn. I just finished lean, mean, thirteen - the new Stephanie Plum book. Evanovich came through again - always a sure bet for a side splitter!
I also just finished Michael Chabon's, The Yiddish Policemen's Union which was terrific but quite, quite different.
