This whole stallion plotline has me in two minds.

On one hand, the way Svendsen writes about stallions as uncontrollable hormone machines is a very American viewpoint - stallions in Europe tend to be treated a lot more like regular horses and their behaviour is better for it.

On the other hand, the way she's written Eclipse makes it clear that he's not suitable for a teenage girl to be riding and handling - especially one whose main training technique seems to be stuffing her horses full of treats. ( )
