Work detailsQuack and Count by Keith Baker
None. "Quack and Count" by Keith Baker is a great book for a teacher to use in lower Elementary. This book explores the ways that you can have a sum of 7 by using different addends. You could use this book as hook to teach how there are many combinations to get to a number. The book follows the different combinations by looking at ducklings and how they are organized when swimming and later flying. The book is beautifully illustrated. It is also fun and easy to read so it would be a great book to let students with a lower reading level read if students were taking time to read books in math. This book is a great way to teach addition without teaching. The students will be able to use their mind to conclude that 5+2=7. You will be able to teach in a backward design and this will hopefully keep the students engaged. You could also use manipulatives to follow the storyline and do a circulation to see if students are able to recreate the combinations of addends. This is an adorable counting book that practices addition skills, as well. I think this would be a great book for pre-k students who are beginning to learn number sense. This book introduces the number seven and all the possibilities of numbers that add up to the number 7. They do this by using ducks and making different groups with them. This is an adorable counting book, but not only is it a counting book it is also an adding book. I really think that any child learning to count and add would love it. no reviews | add a review

This is a book that explains to younger children how to count to seven. They do this by using the ducks.
