The English translations of the French expressions are so outdated -- even for 1961 when this book was published -- that I wonder what era the French slang represents. One definition was 'an itch; "Scotch fiddle"'! I'd never heard the latter term. I looked it up: "Slang, now historical: Scabies." There's a lot of historical slang in this book. It's amusing at least! ( ) no reviews | add a review
